GROW TO ZERO
GOLD STANDARD CONFERENCE 2023
How can we rapidly scale up finance for the Global Goals?
How can we best scale quickly evolving carbon markets with integrity?
What is the role of blended finance or other approaches to collective action?
What role does digitisation play across the board?
These questions and more will be considered at Gold Standard’s conference, Grow to Zero 2023. With the aim of provoking challenging discussions, offering innovative solutions and instigating new collaborations, all participants will be inspired.
Recent years have seen great advancements and new innovations that are helping us on our way to meeting the Paris Agreement and the Sustainable Development Goals. Carbon markets are reaching new heights and interest in sustainable investing is rapidly increasing. Companies and investors are keener than ever to implement net-zero goals and governments are acting on their national plans for climate change and sustainable development. Nevertheless, we are not on the trajectory to limit global average temperature increase to 1.5oC, and so we need to drive progress at a much greater pace.
Gold Standard will continue to drive integrity, credibility and trust in carbon markets, support companies on their journey towards net zero and sustainable value chains, and develop innovative tools to unlock finance for sustainable development. But we can only do so with the support of our community. Grow to Zero offers us all a chance to come together to collaboratively uncover and advance solutions to these vital questions.
This two-day conference is designed to inform and engage a wide range of participants including project developers, fund manager and impact investors, government representatives and sustainability professionals. With a variety of session formats including panels, workshops, breakouts, networking booths and a special evening networking event, it is bound to create important connections and instigate growth towards net-zero."
Day One
Challenges to 2030: How to finance a climate-secure, sustainable society
Climate finance will need to increase between 3 and 6 times by 2030 to achieve mitigation goals with the gap being the widest in developing countries, while finance for adaptation will need to rise dramatically to as much as $295 billion per year by 2050 for developing countries, according to the latest IPCC report.
There is huge potential to unlock private and public capital to reach these numbers. But what needs to happen to access this finance and where are investments best placed? And how do we ensure a just transition as sustainable investment increases and environmental markets rapidly evolve? Join us for day one of the Grow to Zero conference to discuss these questions and more, with experts across multiple disciplines.
Day Two
Credible Impact Through Innovation and Digitisation
New finance mechanisms, digital MRV tech and scope 3 emissions reduction frameworks are all enthusing and encouraging. They have the potential to increase capacity building in the carbon market, create greater credibility of claims and increase transparency – ultimately driving more investment towards climate mitigation and adaptation initiatives.
But which innovations will best help us meet the SDGs? Where should we focus our attention? And how do we use these advancements to create a more transparent and inclusive markets? Join us for day two of the Grow to Zero conference to hear a variety of educated viewpoints on these questions.
